Achieve faster, more vigorous rooting for your cuttings and seeds with Growth Technology's Root Riot Cubes. These market-leading, organic propagation cubes are expertly formulated from fine-milled peat moss, providing a uniquely spongy, aerated texture that guarantees the perfect air/water ratio necessary for explosive root development. Unlike traditional media, Root Riot Cubes maintain consistent moisture levels and are fortified with micronutrients and biologically active ingredients to give your young plants the best possible start, whether you are propagating for hydroponics or soil growing. Root Riot is fully biodegradable and reliably outperforms alternative media, ensuring high success rates for every propagator.
Key Benefits for Optimal Root Development
- Superior Air/Water Ratio: The unique spongy texture holds water efficiently while maintaining crucial aeration, preventing waterlogging and promoting robust root growth.
- Faster, More Vigorous Rooting: Specially inoculated with macro and trace elements to nourish young plants, significantly accelerating the rooting process for quicker turnaround.
- Perfectly pH Balanced: Features a stable pH of 6.0, creating an ideal and consistent environment for both delicate seedlings and fresh cuttings.
- Versatile Growing Medium: Safe and stable for use across all systems, including deep water culture (DWC) hydroponic systems (where they will not clog filters) and traditional soil or coco coir set-ups.
- Clean and Biodegradable: Made from composted organic materials, they are fully TUV certified biodegradable, clean to handle, and provide reliable, dust-free results.
How to use Root Riot Cubes
Root Riot Cubes are supplied pre-moistened and ready to use. If they feel dry, re-wet them by soaking in lukewarm water and allow them to drain thoroughly—the cubes should be spongy and moist, but never saturated.
For Cuttings
- Select a healthy cutting and prepare the material by making a clean, diagonal cut below a node.
- Immediately dip the cut end into Growth Technology Clonex Rooting Gel (the ideal partner product).
- Gently place the treated end into the pre-formed hole at the top of the Root Riot Cube. Do not force the cutting in, insert it just far enough to support it.
- Place the cube into a propagator (a heated propagator or heat mat is ideal) and mist the cuttings regularly with fresh water or Clonex Mist to maintain high humidity.

For Seeds
- Place one or two seeds directly into the pre-formed hole in the top of the cube.
- Gently tease a small corner of the cube material to cover the seeds lightly.
- Place the tray in a warm area until germination occurs. Ensure the cube remains moist but never waterlogged.
- Once roots become visible, the new plant is ready to be potted on or transferred into your chosen growing system. For initial feeding, use a balanced nutrient solution like Growth Technology Formulex.
Available in 24 cube tray, 50 cube refill bag and 100 cube refill bag.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need to soak Root Riot cubes before using them?
Root Riot Cubes are typically supplied already moist. However, if they have become dry to the touch, you should re-wet them by soaking them briefly in lukewarm water and allowing them to drain fully until they are spongy and moist, but not dripping wet.Can I use Root Riot Cubes for my hydroponic system?
Yes. These organic cubes are designed to remain stable and maintain their structure in various environments. They are perfectly suited for all hydroponic systems and are guaranteed not to clog your filters or lines. How do I adjust the feed water when using Root Riot Cubes?
The cubes have a stable pH of 6.0. When mixing your nutrient solution, such as using Growth Technology Clonex Pro Start for young plants, you should monitor and adjust your feed water's pH using products like Growth Technology pH Up or Growth Technology pH Down to maintain the correct range for your overall system. How long does it take for roots to appear in a Root Riot Cube?
Rooting time varies significantly based on the plant species, environmental conditions (like heat and humidity provided by a propagator), and whether a rooting compound like Clonex Gel was used. Typically, roots begin to show within a few days to a couple of weeks.SKU: 1139 Free delivery on orders over £60*
